Since its introduction in 2016, India’s plastic EPR framework has evolved through expanding targets, new categories, recycled content mandates, traceability requirements, and stricter labelling norms. The pace of change forces PIBOs to operate in a landscape of constant recalibration, where weak data systems, informal channels, and reporting delays can easily escalate into penalties.
